What Is Eczema?
Eczema is a non-contagious, inflammatory skin condition that causes the skin to become dry, red, itchy, cracked, and sore. 1. Atopic Eczema
This form of eczema is inherited and comes from within the body. People with atopic eczema are born with a natural tendency for their skin to become inflamed. Flare-ups can occur at any time, often triggered by environmental or emotional factors.
2. Contact Dermatitis
Unlike atopic eczema, contact dermatitis is triggered by external substances — such as soaps, detergents, fragrances, or certain metals. When the skin comes into contact with an irritant or allergen, it reacts with inflammation. Fortunately, identifying and avoiding the trigger can help the skin recover.

Flare-ups can be unpredictable and frustrating. Some of the most common triggers include:
